Sound on mudlet?

I see that it should be able to work... what am I not doing or do I not have?

The latest for windows, although it reads 1.1.0 and I am not sure thats right

I have no idea where you are looking, but there's a ton of more recent versions. The most recent windows version is Mudlet-2.0-test.exe http://sourceforge.net/projects/mudlet/files/

Sound doesn't work in the latest windows releases because I forgot to include the sound plugin in the installer. However, sound works for the latest Mac release. While older releases can only play wav sound files, the latest versions can play mp3 etc. (up to 4 simultaneous sounds). Mudlet-2.0-final will be released in the next couple of days.
